"Bookmark" arrived safe and sound. LOVE it. From the first electric guitar notes in Bookmark I was hooked. It was soothing and familiar, like smooth, smokey whiskey, or slipping into your favorite pair of comfortable, well-worn jeans. I love to travel, and I adore well-written songs about travel. "Louisiana" is a beautiful song, but "Mexico" just wins by a nose as my favorite of the two. "Mexico" to me has the same sort of sense of longing for a simpler life, and has the same feeling of cheery wistfulness as Linda Ronstadt's "Blue Bayou." "Simplicity of a Man" is also a great number. I can't put a finger on what it is about that song, but it touched me deeply. Wimmer's writing and singing is as strong as ever. And the musicianship throughout the album is stellar. Beth Wimmer is like a fine wine; continuing to get better with the passage of time. Kudos to Beth and everyone involved in creating such a beautiful work of musical art.
